This album was constructed in october 2018 from manipulated field recordings and lo-bit synth noise. I had collected the field recordings from travels and walks over several years on my phone. There are a lot of sound sources; running water, London and Stockholm subway trains, sparks from kindlings burning, waves on the seashore, barking dogs in the neighbourhood, a store in a town in Rhodes with hundreds of wind instruments klacking in the breeze from an electric fan. There are also recordings of metal trash and wood objects being played in situ as I stumbled across them on my walks through industrial neighbourhoods and wooded areas.
The tracks were constructed in a semi-improvised way with several loops of field recordings running and being mixed together in one take, although some drones and other synth noise are recorded with multitracking. I used a lot of reverb and delay effects as well as a lot of low-pass and high-pass filters on all sound. Distortion and compression and liberal doses of eq-ing were also used to tease out the thickness or sharpness of different sounds.
